Getting a retail start-up connected and trading in record time

Enabling a retail business to realise business targets with innovative solutions in record time

Industry:

Retail

The Project:

To design and build a solution to overcome the challenges that a retail business faces when opening up new stores where connectivity is not already present. The business need was to prove the concept of a cost-effective, telecoms and data solution into a small number of retail stores for a start-up business. Speed of provision was vital to allow retail trading to start immediately without waiting for physical telephony services to be installed.

Activity:

  • Include the technical and solutions teams at an early stage to enable total collaboration and to scope an innovative solution. Inclusion of the supplier proved advantageous because it allowed the technical team to remove any barriers to the agreed solution.
  • Collaborate with the business sponsor to develop a solution that met all of the requirements and timeframes of planning, scheduling, testing and deployment.
  • Provide regular feedback from the project team to let the solutions development team know that they were on track and meeting the needs of the business.

The Outcome:

After solution deployed and project closed, benefits were realised and a multi-site delivery programme agreed for over 160 stores as the next phase of the project.
